What does a taxi cost in the Netherlands?
Visitors are often surprised by how a Dutch taxi bill is built up: a starting fare, a rate per kilometre and a rate per minute, which keeps running in traffic. The legal maximum tariffs make the ride predictable for the driver, not for the passenger.

What is included in the price
- The whole car: 1 to 4 passengers pay the same amount.
- Luggage, including large suitcases and a buggy.
- Tolls, tunnel charges and parking at an airport terminal.
- 80 minutes of free waiting time after landing, 15 minutes at other addresses.
- Night, weekend and public holiday travel at the same rate.
- Flight tracking for airport rides.
What can change the price
- 5 to 8 passengers or a lot of luggage: a minibus taxi has its own fixed price.
- Extra stops on the way: the price follows the longest version of the route.
- Cross-border journeys to Belgium or Germany carry a surcharge, shown before you pay.
- Changing your addresses after booking: you pay or receive the difference online.
Distance and journey time
Every fixed price follows from the route between your pick-up address and your destination, and it is settled before you book. Traffic, tolls or a diversion never change the amount, and you choose the pick-up time that suits your plans.
Booking a taxi, also a return trip
You can book months ahead. Enter your pick-up address and destination, choose the number of passengers and luggage, and add a return trip in the same booking. For a return from the airport you give your landing time and flight number, so we follow the flight instead of a fixed pick-up time.
Fixed price or a metered taxi at the rank?
A metered taxi makes sense for a spontaneous short hop when you happen to be standing next to a taxi rank. For anything planned — an early flight, a long-distance trip, a group with luggage or a journey during rush hour — a price agreed in advance protects you against the two things that push a meter up: standing still and detours.
