Travelling with pets in a taxi
Most drivers are happy to carry a pet, provided they know in advance and the animal travels safely. The problems only start when a large dog appears unannounced at the kerb.

- Small pets travel in a carrier on the back seat or in the boot.
- Larger dogs need space in an estate or minibus, secured properly.
- Assistance dogs always travel with you.
Keeping the animal comfortable
- Walk a dog shortly before departure.
- Avoid a large meal in the hour before travelling.
- Bring a blanket that smells of home for the carrier.
- Take water for longer journeys.
Vet visits and airport travel
For a vet appointment, book the return leg as a separate ride, since you rarely know exactly how long you will be. For flights, check your airline's rules on carriers and documentation well in advance — those requirements are stricter than anything the taxi journey involves.
