Taxi to the airport for an early flight

The first wave of flights out of Schiphol leaves between 06:00 and 07:30, which puts your pick-up somewhere between 02:30 and 04:30. At that hour there is no bus, no train from most towns, and no room for error.

This is the journey a pre-booked taxi handles best — and it costs the same as a ride at two in the afternoon.

Planning an early departure

  • Be at the airport 2 hours before a European flight; 3 for long-haul.
  • Count on the full driving time; do not assume the roads are empty.
  • Allow for night-time roadworks, which are frequent on Dutch motorways.
  • Book at least 48 hours ahead for a pick-up between 00:00 and 06:00.
  • Put your suitcase by the door the night before.

What we do for night pick-ups

  • The same fixed price as during the day — no night surcharge.
  • A driver assigned in advance, with your address and phone number.
  • A confirmation email with the driver's details the day before.
  • Door-to-terminal service, so you can sleep until the last minute.

Practical tips

Set two alarms and be outside a few minutes early; at 03:00 there is nobody else on the street, and the driver cannot always ring a doorbell in an apartment block without waking the neighbours. Keep your phone charged and to hand — if anything changes, the driver will call that number.
