Is a Fixed Taxi Price Better Than a Taximeter?

How to Check the Price Before You Book

At Taxiritje.nl, you see the price before you enter any payment details.

• Enter your pickup address and destination into the price calculator
• Choose date, time, and number of people
• You will immediately see the fixed price for your journey
• Only after this do you choose whether to book

When a Taximeter Might Be Cheaper

For a very short journey without traffic, a meter can sometimes result in a lower fare. For longer journeys, such as to Schiphol, a fixed price offers more certainty, especially during peak hours.

Why Checking This in Advance Makes a Difference

The question 'is a fixed taxi price better than a taximeter' usually doesn't arise for no reason. You want to arrive on time, avoid surprises, and know what to expect on the day itself. The price of a journey can only be properly assessed when it's clear what you get for that amount. An amount per vehicle is different from an amount per person, and a fixed price works differently from a meter that keeps running during the journey.

The best preparation aligns with your own situation. Therefore, always compare the same complete journey. Include the number of travellers, the vehicle, luggage, and any stopovers. For a group, it helps to divide the total price by the number of travellers.

How to Apply This to Your Own Journey

For your own situation, always use the calculator with the full pickup address and the actual destination. Tables and examples provide guidance, but the calculated amount for your route is definitive. Use the details of the actual traveller, even when someone else is making the booking.

After calculating, take a moment to check all the details before paying. This way, the practical information from this article won't just remain theory, but will result in a clear and calmly prepared journey.

In short

If you want to know the cost of a journey in advance, choose a fixed price and check the amount in the calculator.

How booking a taxi with Taxiritje.nl works

Prices are based on the actual road distance in kilometres between your pickup address and your destination, so you always know the amount before you book. Payment is online by card or iDEAL, and you receive a confirmation by email with the driver details, the pickup time and an invoice with VAT for business trips.

You book online in a few steps. Enter your pickup address with house number and postcode, add your destination and choose the date and time. The price you see is the price you pay: it already includes luggage, tolls, parking at the airport and waiting time, so there is no meter running during the journey and no surcharge at night or at the weekend.

Reservations are possible up to three hours before pickup, and you can book a one-way trip or a return in the same booking. For flights you enter your flight number; we then follow the actual landing time and include up to 80 minutes of free waiting time at the airport. For a pickup at a home or hotel address we include 15 minutes.

• Fixed price per journey, confirmed by email before the driver is assigned.
• Sedan or estate car for 1-4 passengers, minibus for 5-8 passengers.
• Extra stops along the way can be added while booking.
• Changes and cancellations online up to 24 hours before pickup; call 085 060 7086 within 24 hours.
